For Professional Electrostatic Painting Denver Should Be Prioritized

By Donna Young

Electrostatic painting as the name suggests is a way of painting workpieces using particles that are electrostatically charged. The paint is emitted through a spray head and as it comes out, it is charged statically. The substrate is grounded to allow for adhesion between the paint and its surface. Paint particles seek the substrate to form a uniform, uniformly distributed paint layer. When in need of high-quality electrostatic painting Denver should be given priority.

In complex applications, the workpiece is made to go down a conveyor into a paint booth or paint tank. In the paint tank, the workpiece is either coated with or dipped into the paint. Paint booths usually have a powder recovery module, which is used to remove between 95 to 100 percent of overspray coatings. The workpiece then proceeds down on the conveyor belt into an oven where curing happens.

This entire process is made better than traditional methods of painting because of several different reasons. For starters, wastage of paint is minimized by the presence of a recovery unit in the equipment to recover overspray. Automation of the equipment also cuts costs further. However, there are also manual models of this equipment.

The work of the recovery unit is to suck paint particles that do not adhere to the substrate being painted. These particles hung in the air and are sucked back. It is important to ground all components of the equipment before starting the painting process and this is one of the major disadvantages of the process. Without properly grounding these components, there is the risk of a massive buildup of static charges in the system. This may cause damage to the painted substrate such as arcing.

It is important to clean all components that make up the system thoroughly before use. The reason for doing thorough cleaning is to avoid causing a shock to the people around the system. Thorough cleaning also ensures that coat achieved is of high quality. Most models of this product are usually very costly when compared to other painting appliances. However, lower materials and labor costs among other factors absorb the high cost very over a short time.

Much preparation is needed in this process before the actual painting. Removal of debris is the first process of preparation, and it is important to ensure that materials such as debris, graffiti, dust, mold, and old paint among others are removed completely. One of the best ways of removing surface debris is through sandblasting. To attain better adhesion, one should sand the surface of the workpiece.

One should then use various degreasers and solvents to wipe the surface after they have sandblasted and sanded it. One can choose from the wide range of solvents and degreasers in the market depending on the nature of the surface. Any parts of the workpiece that do not need to be painted should be masked out throughout the process.

One can improve the results achieved by applying a primer on the substrate first. In the same way, the modern market has various primers to pick from. When the process is done, masked areas should be unmasked and those that are removed replaced. Proper cleaning should be the last phase of the work.
