Here Is Information On Siberian Kitten For Sale

By Stephanie Phillips

One of the commonest advice given to any one getting a new pet is that they should strive to know as much as they can about their needs, behavior, and characteristics. This is exactly what one should do before getting a Siberian cat for a pet. Knowing things about this breed is important as it helps with what to expect and guides the preparations to be made. Here are facts regarding Siberian kitten for sale.

To start with, Russia is the origin of the Siberian cat. This is based on historical evidence. More precisely, the cats came from the wild subarctic conifer forests of Russia, which are characterized by cold climate. Here, they are called forest cats as their informal name. However, Moscow Semi-Longhair or in simple word, Siberian, is also the name for the species. This is an ancient species of cats and people think that it is the ancestor of all modern long-haired cats.

A characteristic unique to Siberians is their long triple coats. Their long hairs make them distinct even though Siberians may seem to express the 3 natural kinds of feline hair. The implication is that their coats are not long haired, but neither are they short-haired. Siberians have the outer coat otherwise called guard hairs, middle coats or awn hairs and undercoats.

There is an assumption that the triple coat developed as an adaptation to the local cold climate. For example, the undercoat thickens during winter, which serves to shield them from the cold. The coat then sheds in summer to prevent overheating. What this means is that they are adapted to thrive in places that experience weather extremes. Their fur, fortunately, is glossy but textured thus provides a coat that is easy to care for due to reduced matting.

Combing or brushing their coats is one of the ways of caring for the cat. In the spring, this must be frequently done because the coat sheds at this time. One is advised to groom once per week when shedding is not occurring. This is because it is sufficient to keep them healthy and to prevent hairballs from forming.

The fact that these cats rarely need a bath is a good thing. The reason for this is that, both for starters and experienced owners, it is very hard to get the coat sufficiently wet. Additionally, the coat is water-resistant meaning that shampooing it may not be possible. This increases chances of a person doing the job haphazardly which may have adverse effects.

Attending to their nails, ears, and eyes and brushing their teeth must be done regularly. To avoid periodontal disease, the teeth must be brushed daily. Weekly brushing is better than not brushing the teeth at all. This amounts to negligence of the health of the pet.

The nails should be trimmed as soon as it becomes necessary. Their eyes should be cleaned of any discharge using soft damp piece of cloth. Each eye should be wiped with a separate area of the cleaning materials so as to avoid the risk of spreading any infection. Their ears should be checked daily and any dirt removed using a soft damp piece of clothing or a cotton ball.
