By Essie Osborn

One of our primary needs is the water. There are different tastes and kinds f it already due to some inventions that makes changes to the substance. One of which is the softening procedure. This process is done to remove magnesium, calcium and some other metal cations present in it. There are companies that can install this kind of machine in your home if you want to. But of course, that would cost you a hefty amount of money. One company that offers this service is the water softener Rosemount.

Although there are agencies who offer this service, you can also do it on your own. You may install a softener at home so you can have save more. Here are the steps to be able to successfully have it at the comfort of your home.

First, you need to get all the things needed. There are tools and equipment that you need for your project. Before starting it, recheck everything you bought.

Make sure to turn off the faucet inside the house and the power for the hot water heater. Then, drain the lines by turning on the faucets for a few minutes before you install the softener. Then place your conditioner in a safe and dry level area. You will be needing a bigger space since you will have 2 tanks that need to be set up side by side.

Check the length of the cold liquid and bypass ports by measuring it using a tape measure. Using the measurement that you got, cut a copper tubing then solder it to the ends. Make sure that the measuring and soldering are done the right way or else you will have to do it again.

When you purchase all the things needed, there should be a manual with the list of steps and procedures to successfully install your softener. Properly read and understand every bullet so you can do everything right. After, recheck all the things that you have bought. In case there is a missing piece, directly go back to the store and ask for it. If you do not do so, you will not be able to finish everything immediately.

Part of what you have bought is a tube. Prepare it and place it on the side of your conditioner tank. Another one would be a discharge tube needed for draining. Also make a draining system.

Install the bypass valve on the head valve of the conditioner. Use a screwdriver to adjust the screws unto the stainless steel clamps towards the seat valve. This is the time when you need to connect the copper tubing that you have measured. It is needed to deliver the water to the bypass valve. Then, attach it to the lines.

Now your machine is ready to function. Before turning it on and trying it, please do check everything that you have done as there might be mistakes. Being able to fix it the soonest will lessen the chance of doing the whole thing again. Simply turn on the faucet and check how everything works. If there is anything that seemed to be not functioning the right way, immediately turn it off and figure out how to make everything right.
