By Sherry Gross

You have been using diapers for the longest time to help prevent your kid from wetting himself. This is especially true at night when there is a good chance that he will end up wetting his bed when he cannot control his bladder movements. You have decided that this is abortive the right time for him to stop using diapers. So, you want to help him transition properly.

The earlier that you can start your kid to learn about how this is done, the better. But not too early though. Understand that introducing him to toilet assistance is going to be easier once he has reached that age where is more than willing to actually learn about how it is done. However, introducing it at a very premature age will only likely cause things to backfire. You want to avoid that.

There are different indications that your kid is indeed at the right time and age to undergo this transition. It helps that you will be able to recognize what these sign are so it will be easier for you to get him to go through the training and successfully pass it with flying colors too. A good sign that he is ready is when he is 2 years old and older, as this is that age when he might really show interest towards learning how.

There are parents that would wait until their kids would really be the ones to tell them that they want to learn how to visit the bathroom every time. This is especially true of these kids tend to mingle with other kids who already know how to do their bathroom business. When they start to really show interest on how to learn is the best tome that you should be introducing them to proper potty training.

He needs to be able to walk around or run steadily at least. You want to find out if he is able to hold a specific position for a specific amount few time too. This is especially true when it comes to the sitting position. Going to the bathroom might require him to sit for two to five minutes. So, make sure to check that he is able to hold this position for this long.

You want to check if he is at that age where he is able to pull his pants up and down all by himself. You want to make sure that he is able to get this done without any supervision so his trips to the bathroom will be easier for him to do even when alone. In addition, he already starts disliking the feel of wet or dirty diaper and he often volunteers to get changed every time this happens.

Another sign for you to watch out for is when your child actually show a growing interest towards hes bathroom visits. Eh becomes more curious about what these purposes are for and hence, is very much willing to learn. He very much desires independence as well and not having to rely a lot on you for many of the things that he used to do with you before.

He takes pride in the things that he is able to accomplish on his own too. He is more than willing to learn and is no longer resistant. Thus, in this stage, you can easily introduce new ideas to him which you know he will be able to accept positively.
